Learn how to protect your new auto paint job from the elements; rain and sun

A car with a nice auto paint job is something to be cherished. Just washing your car won't get the super shine and smoothness that is needed to preserve your paint. If you have enough time to spend on polishing your own car at home then three components that treat paint surfaces are polish, cleaner and rubbing compound. With a little touching up can keep those finishes looking great for decades.

To choose any of these products you must examine the condition of your car carefully. If your auto paint has a dull look after car wash then polish will be the better choice. Just washing your car won't get the super shine and smoothness that is needed to preserve your paint. You want to do everything to maintain that beautiful look. When you are washing the car it's also a good idea to get under the hood and degrease the engine if needed

The reason for using primer is to give the auto paint a smooth surface to stick to and give the metal some protection from the elements. It's usually a good idea to get 4 or 5 good coats on the car. The first is to cover the previous surface and provide additional protection from the elements, rain, the suns UV, and acids in the air. Choosing the correct paint to suit the environment will ensure good protection for many years. These are excellent for protection against corrosive chemicals, and salt on the roadway.

No matter how well you take care of your car, the value will decrease tremendously over a short period of time. Car dealers are continually studying the different materials and automotive finishes on vehicles to determine the best after market auto waxes and polishes to use to prolong life and crate the most brilliance in shine and reflection.

You cannot compare the two, since Dry Wash also waxes as it washes and therefore you get a two for one double whammy; for instance two steps in one and no water used.

Most professional auto paint detailing products are not over costly, but the costs do add up. Many great waxes and products have been found to work on Enamel, Urethane, Lacquer, Fiber Glass and all clear coats, and when you find one you'll know you have a winner by the reflective depth of the shine. There are many types of waxes and all have different properties, come from different places and must be used slightly differently to get the expected results.
